David Royal is a freelance photographer based on the Monterey Bay in California. A photojournalist with a base in art photography, he loves using his camera as a tool to meet people and discover new worlds around him. He holds a masters degree in Mass Communication/ Photojournalism from San Jose State University.

A former staff photographer with the Monterey County Herald, David has worked for major news outlets such as the Associated Press, Reuters, The New York Times and The Los Angeles Times. Other clients include Ace Hardware, Comcast, Anheuser-Busch, Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula and The Monterey Bay Aquarium.
